Roman: This is the best part of my job. I see every single one of you. And I see the future blood of this industry and of PIMCO. Be ambitious this is going to be a great 40 years ride and you should enjoy every moment.

And on behalf of the whole of PIMCO, and everyone who has worked on this project, we welcome you, and we wish you very best of luck.

Students: This is actually my first time in Southern California. This morning I did surfing for the very first time. It was very humbling to just have waves and oceans just knock you down.

First time surfing, awesome, awesome experience. I was able to get up, ride a few waves.

And it was the most amazing experience I've had in a really long time. It was incredible.

What I've enjoyed the most is really communicating and getting to know a lot of the other folks that are here.

There are some folks that are in engineering here, there are some folks that are in true finance here.

It's been really incredible to meet with our future leader scholars, because I know that they're going to be my network in the future.

People have done amazing things, will do amazing things. And I think are great ambassadors both for the program and just for finance in general.

PIMCO as a company overall, has swept me off my feet. There's a lot of amazing people. And I'm sitting here today, I never thought I would be sitting here.

We heard from the CEO and other senior leaders here, and that reaffirmed these initial perceptions that I have about PIMCO being really thoughtful as a company, and then also investing in their people.

The people so far that I've met have been super kind, super honest, super transparent, I also am impressed that they're willing to commit a million dollars to ensure that the future is more diverse.

Pitters: I want the best and brightest diverse talent to be here at the firm. When I met all the students today.

Text on screen: Caleb Pitters, Head of U.S. Nonprofit and Private Family Capital Practice

I was reminded that they’re the future of this industry, which if they are, and I think that they are, then the future is very bright.

Students: Receiving this scholarship for me really means that someone is taking the time to invest in my future.

I can now go to grad school, feel at ease about debt, and feel comfortable investing in myself.

And it also just means a lot to know that there are organizations like PIMCO out there that are really thoughtful about fostering the next generation of leaders.

I would tell someone who's thinking of applying for the scholarship to just do it. Don't second-guess yourself, don't discount yourself out.

You are worthy of the scholarship, you are smart, intelligent.

And know that it's a very exciting process along the way. There's opportunities to meet phenomenal people. So regardless of the outcome, it's a very worthwhile investment from that perspective.

Definitely take that leap, apply, and see where it takes you.
