Our Dedicated ESG Strategies at Work

PIMCO’s dedicated ESG strategies follow a simple belief: investors can achieve financial returns and make a positive impact. To do this, we use three building blocks – exclude, evaluate, engage – on top of our time-tested investment process used in every portfolio.

We firmly believe investors should be able to do well while they do good with their portfolio.

That’s why at PIMCO, we’ve broadly integrated ESG considerations into our overall bond investment process and across our trading floor. We believe sustainability shouldn’t be an afterthought.

And for investors looking for more, we’ve built dedicated ESG portfolios that take it a step further, relying on an investment approach that we call the three Es: exclude, evaluate and engage.

We exclude issuers in our ESG-dedicated portfolios that are fundamentally misaligned with sustainability practices.

We evaluate issuers with a proprietary scoring system that can help identify best-in-class ESG opportunities.

And ultimately, we look to engage and collaborate with issuers in order to influence behaviors, supporting businesses that demonstrate a willingness to improve practices.

When it comes to pushing for positive change and helping our clients achieve their financial goals, we don’t think you have to choose one or the other; we believe we can do both.
