PIMCO Announces 2017 Managing Directors


Newport Beach, California(March 13, 2017) – PIMCO, a leading global investment management firm, ispleased to announce the promotion of the following officers of the firm toManaging Director.

Michael Cudzil

Mr. Cudzil is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office, and a seniormember of the liability driven investment portfolio management team. He hasserved as chair of the Americas Portfolio Committee, as a rotating memberon the PIMCO Investment Committee and his portfolio expertise spans co-headof the agency MBS portfolio management team. Prior to joining PIMCO in2012, he worked as a managing director and head of pass-through trading atNomura. Mr. Cudzil previously held similar roles at Bank of America andLehman Brothers, as well as a senior trading position at Salomon Brothers.He has 20 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree inpolitical science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sachin Gupta

Mr. Gupta is a Managing Director and global portfolio manager in theNewport Beach office, and head of the Global Desk. He is a member of theEuropean Portfolio Committee, a rotating member of the Asia-PacificPortfolio Committee and has served as a rotating member of the InvestmentCommittee. Previously, he was in PIMCO's London office managing EuropeanLDI portfolios. Before that, he was part of PIMCO’s global portfoliomanagement team in the Singapore office. In these roles, he focused oninvestments in government bonds, foreign exchange and interest ratederivatives across global markets. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2003, he wasin the fixed income and currency derivatives group at ABN AMRO Bank. He has19 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from XLRI, India. Hereceived an undergraduate degree from Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi.

Alec Kersman

Mr. Kersman is a Managing Director and head of PIMCO Latin America and theCaribbean. Based in Brazil, he is responsible for setting strategicdirection for the region and leading a team of PIMCO professionals todeliver innovative investment solutions and best-in-class service to LatinAmerica clients. He serves as the legal representative for PIMCO LLC inColombia and as director of PIMCO Latin America Administradora de CarteirasLtda, PIMCO's legal entity in Brazil. Previously, he spent seven years inPIMCO's New York and Newport Beach offices in different roles. Prior tojoining PIMCO in 2005, Mr. Kersman worked at BBVA’s pension fund inArgentina, where he focused on product and business development. He has 16years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Harvard BusinessSchool and a J.D. degree from the University of Buenos Aires.

John Kirkowski

Mr. Kirkowski is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office and amember of PIMCO's executive office with responsibility for financial andstrategic initiatives. He previously served as a product manager with aspecialization in credit strategies, and as an account manager working withinstitutional clients. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2006, he worked at GoldmanSachs in the investment banking, convertible bond and municipal bondgroups. He also worked for one year at the non-profit 9/11 United ServicesGroup in New York. He has 15 years of investment experience and holds anMBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree in economicsfrom Yale University.

Laurent Luccioni, Ph.D.

Mr. Luccioni is a Managing Director and portfolio manager in the Londonoffice where he oversees the European commercial real estate team. Hisresponsibilities include sourcing, underwriting and managing opportunisticequity and debt real estate investments across all property types. Prior tojoining PIMCO in 2013, he was the European CEO for MGPA, theMacquarie-backed private equity real estate investment advisory company.Additionally, he worked with Cherokee Investment Partners in London. He has18 years of investment and financial services experience and holds an MBAfrom Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and adoctorate in civil and environmental engineering from University ofCalifornia, Berkeley.

Rene Martel, FSA, CFA

Mr. Martel is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office. He is headof pension solutions in the Americas and focuses on liability-driveninvestments, asset allocation and asset-liability management strategies forpension funds and insurance companies. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2006, hewas responsible for conducting asset-liability modeling and recommendingrisk management strategies for pension plan sponsors at Mercer InvestmentConsulting. He also advised institutional clients on asset allocation,investment policy and investment manager selection. He has 15 years ofinvestment experience and holds an undergraduate degree in actuarialscience from Laval University. Mr. Martel also holds the Fellow of theSociety of Actuaries (FSA) designation.

Roger Nieves, CFA

Mr. Nieves is a Managing Director in the Newport Beachoffice and head of the enterprise coverage team withinPIMCO’s U.S. Global Wealth Management group. In this role,Mr. Nieves is responsible for overseeing PIMCO’s coverageof strategic relationships with U.S.-domiciledbroker-dealers, banks, and trust banks. Prior to joiningPIMCO in 2001, he was a manager of financial analysis atNissan Motor Corporation. He has 19 years of investmentexperience and holds an MBA from Washington University, St.Louis. He also holds a master's degree from the KennedySchool of Government at Harvard University and anundergraduate degree from the University of California,Irvine.

Cathleen Stahl

Ms. Stahl is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office and head ofglobal marketing at PIMCO. In this capacity, she oversees brand, creative,advertising and content strategy as well as the channel and digitalmarketing teams in support of the firm’s global business. Prior to joiningPIMCO in 2011, she was a managing director and head of marketing at AllianzGlobal Investors Distributors. Previously, she was a consultant at Tiller,an advocacy marketing agency. Before that, she worked at OppenheimerFundsrunning business development projects for the wealth management group andmanaging corporate marketing programs. Ms. Stahl serves as a board memberfor both The PIMCO Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Central OrangeCoast. Ms. Stahl is the author of "Twin Set," a nonfiction book aboutparenting twins published by Random House in July 2008. She received anundergraduate degree from Saint Mary's College.

Eve Tournier

Ms. Tournier is a Managing Director in the London office and head ofpan-European credit portfolio management. She is the lead portfolio managerfor the firm’s global multi-sector credit strategies as well as dedicatedEuropean credit and European income-oriented portfolios and is also amember of the European Portfolio Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2008,she was a managing director and European head of high yield credit tradingwith Deutsche Bank in London. Previously, she worked in credit derivativestrading at Deutsche Bank and at J.P. Morgan in New York. She has 18 yearsof investment experience and holds a master’s degree in operations researchand financial engineering from Cornell University and an undergraduatedegree from Ecole Centrale de Lyon.
