Return to Our Firm
Overview Intro
Our mission is to deliver risk-adjusted returns that are consistent with our clients’ objectives, through an investment process that is designed to identify the long-term dynamics of sound governance and the sustainable utilization of both human capital and natural resources.
The PIMCO Foundation

The PIMCO Foundation is committed to improving lives, communities and culture by empowering individuals and organizations dedicated to making the world a better place.

The PIMCO Foundation operates several programs that aim to extend the generosity and social awareness of PIMCO’s employees by channeling meaningful financial assistance to important and highly-deserving causes. Since it was founded in 2001, the PIMCO Foundation has awarded grants to non-profits throughout the U.S. and around the world.

  • Employee Match Program: The Foundation matches employee contributions dollar-for-dollar up to an annual limit.
  • Good Neighbor Program: Non-profits sponsoring events around PIMCO’s headquarters may apply for funding.
  • Grants Program: An employee selection committee considers and selects grant requests that best fit the PIMCO Foundation's grant priorities.

Grants Program
Each year the PIMCO Foundation directs a considerable portion of its charitable budget toward grants to non-profits. Donations generally target organizations that emphasize distinct area of focus which complement the PIMCO Foundation’s mission. Particular consideration is given to organizations that the Foundation feels can do the greatest good.

Priority is given to organizations and programs that:

  • Provide scholarships and college-readiness to underrepresented groups
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and drug prevention
  • Create opportunities for at-risk youth
  • Promote awareness of women’s issues and advancements in women's healthcare
  • Support ocean conservation
  • Promote micro lending programs
  • Support the disabled
  • Support seniors

The PIMCO Foundation cannot support:

  • Individuals
  • Political parties, candidates or partisan political organizations
  • Veterans and labor organizations
  • Fraternal organizations, athletic clubs or social clubs
  • Sectarian or denominational religious organizations, except for programs available to all and free from religious orientation
  • Fundraising events
  • Advertising sponsorship

Grants from the PIMCO Foundation are awarded once per calendar year. Grant awards are made in the range of $5,000 and $25,000. Recipients are eligible to receive funding for three consecutive years, and are eligible to apply for support again after a one-year interim period.

Applications for grants are accepted from June 1 to July 15 of each year.

PIMCO Partners

PIMCO Partners promotes employee volunteerism to support community and is an important part of our firm's culture.

PIMCO Partners is the firm’s employee volunteer and community outreach program, providing a way for colleagues to support and enhance lives and communities. Around the world each month, PIMCO employees coordinate through PIMCO Partners to put their skills and donations to work for worthwhile causes. In addition, each quarter PIMCO Partners joins the PIMCO Foundation to sponsor a major charity event such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Special Olympics Summer Games or our very own Share the Harvest.

Since the inception of PIMCO Partners in 2007, our volunteers have logged over 10,000 hours of donated time.

Getting Involved – PIMCO Partners Programs

  • Global Week of Volunteering: PIMCO Partners launched the first annual Global Week of Volunteering in 2009, comprising more than 300 volunteers from eight global offices volunteering for 19 events in one week. Activities included packing food at a food bank, spending time with at-risk kids, and facilitating interview skills workshops for residents of a shelter.
  • Tools for Tomorrow:  This signature program for PIMCO Partners promotes life skills for underserved members of the community. We’re currently working with Olive Crest in Santa Ana, Calif. to promote financial literacy.
  • Nonprofit Board Training: We sponsor free training opportunities for PIMCO colleagues who want to learn the ins and outs of serving on the boards of charitable, not-for-profit organizations.
  • Ongoing Volunteer Efforts: All of PIMCO’s global offices continually scout out, support and promote volunteer opportunities for our employees.
